2009 VPA Fall Conference

The 2009 VPA Planning Conference will take place on October 16, 2009 at the All Souls Interfaith Gathering Center on the shore of Lake Champlain in Shelburne, VT.

Two Sides of the Coin: Density and Design in the Village and Countryside

Vermont’s growth management strategies in recent years have primarily focused on our larger towns. The character of our rural landscape continues to be threatened by poorly sited development as sprawling development patterns in our smaller towns and rural areas persist. Communities lack the tools to realize compact development in small villages due to issues related to density and design. The other side of the coin is achieving good site design in the countryside along with retaining a healthy working rural landscape.

The Conference will be followed by the VPA Annual Meeting and a reception and wine-tasting at Shelburne Vineyards in Shelburne, VT.

Date: Friday, October 16th
Time: 8:45-3:30 (conference), 3:45-4:15 Annual Meeting, 4:30-6:00 Reception & Wine-tasting
Location: All Souls Interfaith Gathering Center, Shelburne, VT. (Reception at Shelburne Vineyards)
Cost: $35 for the conference. An additional $10 to attend the reception.
